| Printmaking | ART 307/407 | Encompasses three genres of printmaking, Serigraphy, Intaglio and Relief. Serigraphy layers of ink on paper and various surfaces applied through stencils affixed to silk screens. Intaglio Acid etched zinc and copper plates with a design and transferred onto high quality paper through by running it through a high-pressure press. Relief designs carved into blocks of linoleum, wood or various surfaces. Then with ink applied to the surfaces of the blocks the design is transferred onto high quality paper by hand or by a high-pressure press. Embossing- The technique of Embossing is also accomplished on the high-pressure press. The carved blocks are run through the press with water dampened paper which then transfers to the paper in a raised or indented design to create an entirely different image. |
